New SMS notification service

From Tuesday the 14th of April, we have switched over to a new SMS provider. Don’t be surprised that reminders are coming from a new number. All our SMS (not email) will come from the same new number.

Can I call you on that number ?

No. The SMS number will only send and receive text messages, not phone calls or anything else.

Combined reminders

Instead of getting multiple messages, you will now get one message about all your appointments on the same day, and for any other appointments a family member has as long as you all use the same mobile number!

Example:

Hi – reminder for appointments today at Wyndcott Dental!
Miss Jane Smith at 10:00:00 for FILLS with SML
Master Bobby Smith at 10:30:00 for FILLS with SML

Christmas Opening 2025

From everyone at Wyndcott Dental we wish you a happy holiday and a happy new year !

We will be open except on bank holidays, but not all dentists will be available.

It’s National Smile Month !

The Oral Health Foundation is a charity that provides impartial advice on all aspects of oral health, and for the next four weeks, they will be discussing ways to love your smile. Pay them a visit, and see how they can help you.

Fluoride mouthwash is a helpful aide, but not a replacement for careful brushing. Mouthwash can help get the final particles of food from the hard-to-reach places, and if you don’t follow the spit-don’t-rinse advice for toothpaste, it would be better than using plain water to rinse out after brushing. Normally you should use mouthwash at a different time to brushing. Some mouthwash can result in staining, so your teeth may be healthy but they don’t look as clean. If you need this type of mouthwash, you should talk to your dentist about how to use it best and what to do about staining.

Cleaning in between your teeth should be part of your daily routine. Interdental brushes or dental floss are both helpful in removing plaque and small pieces of food from between your teeth and even just below your gums. These are places a toothbrush can’t get to.

Remember to clean between all your teeth and don’t forget the back of your back teeth!

If you are using interdental brushes, use the right size brush – you will probably need smaller brushes for your front teeth and larger ones for your back teeth. They can be used more than once, like a normal toothbrush. TePe has a helpful video showing you how to use them.

Think you are flossing correctly or stopped because it hurt ? Take a look at this video and see how you should be using dental floss

Your dentist or hygienist can also help you with advice, get the right size brushes and show you what to do

Many people are recommended six-monthly visits, but these can be more often if your dentist needs to keep an eye on something, or less often if you almost never need treatment after a check-up. It’s always better to find a problem early at a regular check-up than to wake up in the night with throbbing toothache !

The NHS has advice on how often they expect people to see a dentist.

Each time you eat or drink something sugary, the plaque bacteria that live in your mouth use it to create acid which attacks your teeth. If you snack often, acid is produced often, and that causes more damage than eating a healthy meal 3 times a day.

National Smile Month has helpful advice on what foods have more or less risk, and when it’s best to brush.
